For the Spotify UK – Mixing Feature commercial, Moonshine Film supplied a complete Camera Kit & Film Crew Package through our in-house wet hire service.

Working alongside the talented team at Curly Media, we provided camera, lenses, grip, monitoring, comms, and Magliner support, backed by our in-house Movi Pro + Segway Operator, aswell as our 2nd AC.

The Challenge: Maximising Movement and Creativity Under Tight Commercial Schedules

Director Mollana Burke and DOP James Killeen wanted dynamic, fluid tracking shots that could bring the energy of the commercial to life.

With limited time on set, traditional tracking vehicles would have slowed production down. Instead, DOP James Killeen opted to use Moonshine Film’s Movi Segway Gimbal Operator Package.

A versatile and efficient alternative that allows for rapid repositioning, smooth tracking, and multiple shot variations within tight commercial timeframes.

Our Solution: The Movi Segway Gimbal Operator Package

Operated by Jack T Smith, our Movi Segway setup combines a Freefly Movi Pro gimbal system with a custom-built Segway platform, allowing for precision tracking at variable speeds with incredible stability.

This configuration offers directors and DOPs the creative freedom of a tracking vehicle, but with faster setup, tighter manoeuvrability, and minimal footprint. Perfect for commercial environments and fast-paced shoots.

For this production, we pushed the Movi Segway package to its limits to capture a range of motion-based shots that elevated the final film. The results were cinematic, efficient, and aligned perfectly with Spotify’s polished visual style.

The Movi Segway Gimbal Operator Package proved its value once again , delivering high-speed, creative tracking shots without the logistical delays of larger vehicle rigs. The DOP was able to experiment freely, capture more variety within the shoot window, and maintain visual consistency throughout the spot.
