Production Insurance in the UK, Made Simple for Overseas Productions | Moonshine Film
Share
Planning a UK shoot from abroad brings plenty to organise: crew, kit, locations and permissions. Insurance is one of the pieces that needs to be right before the cameras roll. That's why Moonshine Film now offers Production Insurance Support for productions filming in the United Kingdom.
From our base in Millbank, London, we help eligible productions access cover through our production insurance arrangements, working with Performance Insurance. It sits naturally alongside the rest of what we do for visiting teams.
Filming insurance in the UK for productions organised overseas
This service is particularly useful for international production companies that are not domiciled in the UK and need local support. If your company is based abroad and you're bringing a project to Britain, we can help you look at the cover your shoot needs.
It works hand in hand with our production services, our UK fixer services and our film equipment hire, so one local team can support your production from kit to crew to cover.

What your production insurance cover can include:
Every production is different. Depending on your production and the policy terms, cover can include the following.
Equipment insurance: Covers loss of or damage to your camera, lighting, sound and grip kit, whether you own it or hire it in, on set, in transit and in storage.
Producers' indemnity: Covers the extra costs if your shoot is delayed, postponed or cancelled for reasons outside your control, such as the illness or injury of key cast or crew.
Public liability: Covers your legal liability if a member of the public is injured or their property is damaged because of your filming. Many UK locations and councils ask to see this before you can shoot.
Additional cover tailored to your production: We can look at extra cover for your shoot, such as employers' liability for UK crew, props, sets and wardrobe, or hired vehicles.
We handle the paperwork and the claims
Insurance admin is the last thing a producer wants to chase from another time zone. Our team coordinates the insurance administration for you. Should a claim arise, we manage the claims process with the insurer on your behalf, so you can stay focused on the production.
Clear, simple pricing for production insurance support
- Insurance premium: the applicable premium for your cover
- Handling fee: 25% of the premium or £100, whichever is higher
- Your cost: the premium plus the handling fee
The handling fee reflects the administration involved and Moonshine's responsibilities as policyholder.
All cover is subject to insurer approval, policy terms, exclusions and excesses. The client is responsible for the applicable policy excess and any costs not covered by the policy, as set out in the production agreement.

Visiting producers trust our London team
International producers already rely on Moonshine when they bring projects to London. As producer Kim Shapiro put it:
"I came to London from NY to film a small project, I contacted moonshine for equipment rental and they also provided some of the crew, they literally made my production work much better and helped me a lot to make this project happen!"
Production insurance support is one more way we make a UK shoot simpler for teams travelling in.
