The Challenge: A Live, Two-Way Broadcast Across Continents

The client’s goal was simple in theory but complex in execution: a live, two way interview between talent in New York and London, streamed in real time with broadcast grade quality.

They required a trusted UK fixer who could handle the London side of production while maintaining constant communication with the team in New York to ensure workflow. Timing, reliability, and technical precision were critical, with no room for delay or error. That’s where Moonshine Film came in.

Our Role: UK Fixer and London Production Partner

As the London production partner, Moonshine Film provided full on the ground production support.

Our responsibilities included:

Crew hire: Supplying a skilled camera team, sound recordist, lighting team & livestream op.

Set Design: Ensuring that our set matched the other with production coordination.

Equipment to match the look & quality of the US feed such as Sony FX9s & a bullet-proof livestream setup.

Livestream management from the cameras, coordinating the technical bridge between the UK and US teams with zoom calls to ensure seamless real time transmission.

Our role extended beyond fixing as we became the UK production backbone, ensuring the international vision came together flawlessly.

Bridging Time Zones with Precision and Collaboration

Coordinating between New York (EST) and London (GMT) meant working across a five hour time difference. The London team had to align shoot timing, audio calibration, and live signal tests to match the US broadcast schedule.

Using a combination of secure video link platforms, redundant streaming paths, and multi camera monitoring, our crew ensured perfect lip sync, colour balance, and signal reliability, even during rehearsal and testing phases.

Our on site producer maintained open communication with the US director and technical supervisor throughout the broadcast window, guaranteeing smooth cross city collaboration.

The Result: Broadcast-Ready Quality Across Continents

Despite the complexity, the final stream ran flawlessly with zero dropouts, perfectly balanced audio, and a polished cinematic image that aligned with the US team!

The client praised the UK setup for being a no-nonsense solution, allowing their New York control room to focus on editorial and talent without worrying about technical inconsistencies from the London side.
