We Shut Down Waterloo Bridge! | Moonshine Drone Services

Read how Moonshine Film navigates extended height permissions, restricted airspace and complex regulatory frameworks - so our clients never have to!
Drone permissions, particularly in London, are notoriously complex. Restricted flight zones, height limitations and landmark airspace mean most productions simply write aerial work off.
When the Women's ICC T20 World Cup launched in the UK, Waterloo Bridge was transformed into a cricket pitch. An iconic backdrop and the kind of shoot that most productions assume is off-limits for aerial coverage. The Moonshine team had the privilege of being there drone in the air, with full permissions in our hands.

One of London's most recognisable crossings, closed to traffic and turned into a cricket pitch to celebrate the launch of the Women's ICC T20 World Cup. Moonshine Film was brought in to supply drone services for the event and to capture it from above.
Shot using our Inspire 3 package, our team gained permissions to pilot over this iconic London landmark. Full CAA-authorised operation from take-off to landing.
Drone permissions are not a barrier for us, they're part of the service.
Most drone operators work comfortably within standard limits (sub-400ft, away from controlled airspace.) That covers a lot of ground, but it doesn't cover those crucial shots of iconic London landmarks, high-rise districts and events.
For those shoots, you need something more: a SORA-authorised operator, CAA clearance and, depending on the location, sign-off from the relevant local authority or event organiser. It is a process. And if you don't know it well, it can take weeks, hit dead ends or collapse entirely.
Canary Wharf — CWG Offices Portfolio Shoot
A Moonshine drone portfolio shoot commissioned for CWG Offices in Canary Wharf - one of the UK's most tightly controlled flight environments. High-rise density, proximity to London City Airport and a complex web of restricted zones make this one of the more demanding airspace challenges a drone operator can face.
Moonshine Film secured permissions to fly beyond standard limits with full regulatory clearance. The shoot was conducted using a SORA-authorised operator (OSC approved), meeting the highest applicable standard for commercial drone operations in congested or elevated-risk environments.
If you have a location in mind and you're not sure whether drone coverage is achievable - ask us. We'll give you a straight answer and if it's possible, we'll show you how to get there.
