About the Leica Elmarit-R Lenses

The Leica Elmarit-R series is a classic range of vintage Leica optics, renowned for their distinctive rendering, natural colour and subtle character. Originally designed for Leica's R-series cameras, these lenses have become a popular choice for filmmakers looking to add a more organic, cinematic feel to modern digital cameras.

With their combination of sharpness, gentle falloff and characteristic Leica rendering, the Elmarit-R lenses offer a look that feels noticeably different from contemporary clinical cinema glass. They are particularly well suited to narrative, commercial, documentary and music video work where a touch of vintage character is desirable.

Our Leica Elmarit-R Set Includes:

19mm Elmarit-R
24mm Elmarit-R
28mm Elmarit-R
35mm Elmarit-R
50mm Elmarit-R
60mm Macro-Elmarit-R
90mm Elmarit-R
135mm Elmarit-R

A Classic Leica Look

The Elmarit-R lenses are known for their distinctive vintage character while retaining excellent image quality. Expect natural skin tones, pleasing contrast, smooth transitions and a subtle rendering that can help take the digital edge off modern sensors.

The set also gives you a broad range of focal lengths, from the ultra-wide 19mm through to the 135mm telephoto, making it suitable for everything from wide establishing shots and handheld work to portraits and compressed compositions.

Optional Lens Add-Ons

15mm
An ultra-wide option for expansive interiors, establishing shots and creative close-ups, adding a distinctive perspective to the Elmarit-R set.

19mm
A versatile wide-angle prime offering a natural perspective with plenty of room for environments, locations and wider compositions.

18–200mm Zoom
A highly versatile all-in-one zoom covering everything from wide-angle to telephoto. Ideal for fast-moving shoots, documentary work, run-and-gun setups and situations where changing lenses isn't practical.

All available as optional additions to the core Leica Elmarit-R set.

What's the Cancellation Policy?

Once a booking has been confirmed, Moonshine Film allocates, prepares, and reserves equipment and resources exclusively for that hire period. Cancellations or reductions may therefore incur a charge to cover these costs and the loss of opportunity to rehire the equipment.

• More than 7 days before the hire period: 10% of the total hire fee.
• 3–7 days before the hire period: 25% of the total hire fee.
• 48–72 hours before the hire period: 50% of the total hire fee.
• Less than 48 hours before the hire period: 100% of the total hire fee.

What documentation do I need to register for an account?

You will need some identification (drivers license or passport), proof of address and proof of insurance if the kit is over £1000.

What are the timings for collection & return for a one day hire?

If you collect the evening before your shoot and return the morning after, this counts as a one day rental.
